it's hard to tell, but i would recommend to apply the official patches to any of those games and try again. if you've already have, then provide more information about the connection...

i have applied patch 1.42 for c3, but nothing happens, i tried it on game ranger as well, but same problem occurs,

on gameranger:
we make a room for c3, i was acting as host, i created server, my game opens and i got the sever menu screen of c3 where we make a new game, but on others computer their game starts but there comes black screen and game halts, they are unable to join the game, we all have same version of commandos,

on lan,
me and my friend connected on lan, he created server, i started my game, goto multiplayer tcp/lan, there is no server in the server list,

someone told me that it is problem of ports or something, nobody on gameranger know this why we are not unable to play, while other multiplayer games works fine,

have you tried hamachi as well? it's a virtual lan emulator, i guess similar to gameranger, but you don't have to worry about forwarding ports. btw, do you guys have a router for example, that could mess things up?

here are the ports that need to be opened with some description, but i don't think any of these counts if you play on 2 machines wired into a lan network:

i don't think it depends on gameversions, it has to be something else. but could you please tell me, if you have the 3 cd version of the game, or some rar-ed or zipped fewhundred megs rip?
