I managed to extract the level background maps http://rapidshare.com/files/279964490/Desperados.zip
  and the overview maps http://rapidshare.com/files/280349821/Desperados_BGND.zip.

Has anybody found out how to add new enemies (or how to change the position of the existing ones)?

It whould be nice if someone can create a multiplayer for that game :)
