hm, the board seems to be a bit of... empty :( is there maybe anything new about modified y64 files, cbel and cbtcod missions ported into c2 engine of which screenshots have been released a while ago, or basically anything to share with the community?

hi there :)

sorry if i was a bit too questioning, and of course not all of those were asked from you. i just wanted to write into the most recent topic, because 3-4 weeks passed since the last entry of the forum, so noone wrote anything :(

so basically i just would have liked to know the progress of the current projects, as you are dealing with y64 files, and others dealing with porting the old missions under c2, etc.

The project will be fully new and will not depend on previous creations. On this stage the rendering-engine of game, which will include for itself front-rank technologies, is created. Sounds as a dream, but it is reality which we are approached to - therefore will accept dear wishes in relation to a project!

Be quiet, a project is not closed, simply presently much the personal work and for to the evenings we with friends create this not easy project. On this stage new filters are added in the image of general picture, bag correcting and we think in playing subject... Farther work after a design and creation of location - can say, that a game will be fully in 3d ( except for general effects, basic effects are presently created with application of Shader is a novelty in games, although probably it was yet done by nobody ). Hope in quick time to show you the First pictures...

All work on forming of map I will do in 3dmax, therefore and a sec file will be created directly in this program... in relation to an answer
wyel2000:"Creating a new Y64 files is easy. but Creating a new sec files is veryhard". - A process of creation of y64 is trouble and not always fasts, if to take into account that at first it is needed to sketch the idea, then to pick up the prepared pictures and edit them to the ideal kind - as a result not always will nurse what expected... Therefore I am oriented on 3d creation of location(very hard  work on creation of model and texture - believe) - and an answer swims out from here - creating y64 is hard job (all four sides) -  to do for him a sec file it will not be so difficultly... though, also, not so simply  ;-)

I can to imitate a ma2 format , therefore with it problems will not be (a main problem it correct co-ordination of masks - problem in the shortage of time)...

my envisage the new map step is :
1.draw temporary picture
2.complete image conversion to Y64 (image to y64 is easy)
3.according to the Y64 edit sec (3dmax to edit)
4.make ma2 to mask
5.edit script to moding game.

me not know use 3dmax. so this my means.
if me is wrong. i'm sorry.

Notedly, that you don't know how to create a sec format you changed an eventual variant to the flat level (idea was good but the result is different, mismach)... On the second picture noticeable drawings of layes - trying to do good location, but planned not this, doesn't it?  More exact details are needed and not to decide on attained, if you need help - will help! (can do ma2   - send on my e-mail a working variant in an original size)... Very good for Commandos 1, but not for second...
Did you have all 4 sides of 2 picture?

When work is started, you feel that nowhere can cut out little pictures a detail, objects, buildings, and you must to do some picture by a brush or stamp, that is why it is better to teach up 3d editor, that able to create models and only then paste them on a map, agree?

In relation to 3dmax, studies are gradual (can say - difficultly)

@Polonsky: What your calling (programming, 3d graphic arts, 2d graphic arts...)?
I need support in creation of 3d models, therefore you must download tutorials and start study...

Work is not yet complete (it just beginning of hard work, and more precisely speaking - I only study and possibly all of it will not be used in an eventual variant, but studying is needed)...

Blocking sectors is easy in .MIS files by creating a TOKEN that has the right .POS, VOLCOLISION, no ANIMADOR, and that are ".LISTAS (OCLU, ESQU)"

it's not as clean as modifying the .SEC or .MA2 files but it works !

Maybe the mask remains a problem to solve ...

Blocking sectors was needed in order that it is not possible it would be to become on a picture, so as an2 files yet were transparent and ma2 impossible for editing.
Therefore now that there is possibility to edit ma2, it is far more simple process.
And for creation of barrier (that not to edit .sec) it is possible to set other

.sec->.obj is currently not implemented.
You may refer to Examples\EX01.SEC.files as a example of converting .obj -> .sec. It works.
There are many limits regarding creating a SEC file, and any of them may cause the trouble.

Simply grab \EX01.SEC.files to ImageConverter.exe? Result on my PC - negative. (.NET FRAMEWORK 2.0, Win xp sp 3) Another functiones of ImageConverter working.

Very strange.
It says it cannot parse string "-966.731445" as a float point.
Maybe this involves your locale.
The decimal point, is written as "," in your coutry, I think. The parse function I use is related to your locale and refused to parse the dot as decimal point.
I'll fix it soon.

There is no way to automatically build MA2 for C3 in C2, because their models are completely different.
Even if we decoded the C3 Y64 extra data (which replaces MA2), we need to do much handwork to make a MA2.
